I met with an old friend today after not seeing her for years (she’s gender fluid, but AFAB, so “she”), and since she’s one of the few non-cis people that I know, I used the opportunity to let out all my neuroses about my gender. (I also got to meet her genderqueer “girl”friend, which was cool.)
So I decided to girl up to see what other people thought about me as a non-guy, and apparently I look really good as a girl. Her “girl”friend even said that, had she not seen me as a guy before, she’d have thought I had a natural female body. So, basically, is was like, “Eep! Thank you! ^.^ ” Then we spent the rest of the evening talking about make-up tips and gender stuff, which was nice.
So, yeah, that’s how I spent International Women’s Day: being a woman. (Kinda.)
This awesome video features Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, aka 2Cellos, playing their phenomenal “BaRock style” arrangement of the hard rock classic for a completely bewildered 17th century audience. The concept is wonderful, but the actual performance is astonishing.
